This performance is the Live Nativity.
Supporting: Wokingham Foodbank
Performance starts at 4pm in Howard Palmer Gardens but come down to the Market Place for fun, crafts and entertainment from 3pm. There may even be a donkey.
At 3:50pm the Mayor will lead a procession to the gardens for the performance.
The Wokingham Live Nativity will be bought to you by Rough Sketch theatre and Wokingham community. Rough Sketch is passionate about using theatre as a way of bringing people together for a common goal and we have sought out ways of working with many from the community on this project. Involved with the performance are school children, as young as 5, teenagers from local theatre group Platform YP, people from 6 different churches in Wokingham and various singers from local choirs.
In helping to make and create the set were some of the Salvation Army drop in clients and volunteers. The art work for the poster was painted by Tony A who is currently in rehabilitation for drug addiction at Yeldall Manor – the poster design has been made into Christmas cards which Keith from Jays Printers has printed for us. And as a gift for all the children that come to see the Nativity, the Barkham Hookers have crocheted Christmas star tree decorations.
Leading up to the performance there will be activities and refreshments in the Market Place; a chance to pet two little donkeys from Quegs- Outdoors Adventures and listen to some Christmassy songs by the young people of Platform YP. It is a community project that we hope will bring Christmas cheer, entertainment and reflection on what Christmas can mean to all those that come and see it.
